
It’s hard to talk about this part of the book without giving #Spoilers, but suffice it to say that it is brilliant! We’ll never know, this side of Heaven, how big of an impact the real-life Ruth had on her great-grandson David, but Tessa’s version of this impact makes perfect sense. I LOVED how Tessa depicted Ruth’s relationship to King David and the lineage of Jesus. Ruth’s relationship with her ailing grandfather struck close to home for me since it reminded me of my own Pawpaw who has Parkinson’s disease. I even found myself in tears! Then as the story progressed to show the kind of life Ruth may have lived before marrying into Naomi’s family, it connected with my heart even further. He tells himself he is only being kind to his Cousin Naomi’s chosen daughter when he goes out of his way to protect her from harm, but his heart knows better.īased on the biblical account of Ruth, In the Field of Grace is the story of a love that ultimately changes the course of Israel’s destiny and the future of the whole world.įrom the prologue telling of Boaz’s heartache at the loss of his first wife, I was hooked.
